Medical Director
An experienced Medical Director is required to support the cardiology or immunology clinical development activities outside the United States for our client a large biotechnology company. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician with a proven track record in a commercial setting to develop their career.
Provide strategic input into global cardiology/immunology development plans including life-cycle management from an International perspective
Participate in the planning and execution of late phases of cardiology or immunology clinical trials outside the US. May take the global lead on one or more programs.
Support TA and SBU in developing and managing a clinical/scientific team based in Maidenhead and aligned with US (SD or Cambridge) based team to support clinical development plans for late stage products.
Mentorship and medical advice to the cardiology/immunology therapeutic area clinical operations team based in the Maidenhead office.
Support International Regulatory Affairs with all EMEA and EU/International country regulatory affairs activities for cardiology or immunology products
Support International Drug Safety and Risk Management group for cardiology and immunology products (e.g. case reviews, EMEA safety questions)
Participation in global development teams to ensure that consolidated input from the International Business Unit is presented.
Provide medical evaluation of Business development activities for cardiology or immunology products (globally and for International)
Key member of the UK Development Leadership Team.
Specifically for cardiology:
Support the development of products in the treatment of heart failure outside the US
Continued development of a network of international cardiology opinion leaders to obtain international input for global clinical development programs.
Support the development of additional early phase cardiology compounds, including those for pulmonary hypertension
Support development of Int’l Strategic Business Unit in Cardiology as new therapeutic area for Biogen Idec outside the United States
Specifically for immunology:
Support development of treatment of rheumatoid arthritis outside the US
Provide support for additional therapies for auto-immune diseases
Experience Required
Board-certified specialist or M.D. with significant experience in cardiology or rheumatology
2-10 years of industry clinical development experience in cardiology or rheumatology
Previous experience of successfully working with Medical Affairs/Commercial
Additional research background desirable
EMEA filing experience desirable
