Research Nurse - Transplant
Job Description:
We are currently looking for an experienced Clinical Research Nurse to join a study based in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an interesting field of research and is offering a competitive salary package.
The Transplant research nurse will be an autonomous practitioner working with Surgeons and Hepatologists on a variety of liver transplant, surgical and medical clinical trials. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the co-ordination and management of clinical trials within the department.
Responsibilities will include education of patients and colleagues, coordination of care of patients on trials, collection and preparation of biological samples, collection of trial data, the administration of experimental agents and monitoring of the expected and unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities. The post holder will be expected to develop specialized skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of clinical trials, the therapies and the relevant disease sites. The post holder will be expected to have sufficient skills to enable patients to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as the patient’s advocate. The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the well being of the patients and is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines for research.
Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years post registration nursing experience
• At least 2 years clinical research experience
• Experience of formal/informal teaching of patients/staff
Requirements:
• Proven effectiveness as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to prioritise workload
• Demonstrates ability to work under own initiative
• Computer literacy
• Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally
• Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing
