This key leadership role is for a global pharmaceutical company that is well known around the world as a world class, cutting edge organisation, and strives towards better health for individuals by developing safe, effective and innovative pharmaceutical products. They require a Medical Director at their office in Deerfield, Illinois (close to Chicago) who will serve as the Global PV Physician for complex development programs.
JOB ROLE: The Medical Director serves as the Global Pharmacovigilance Physician for complex, strategically important developmental programs especially those that are Phase III and IV programs.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES include:
•Serving in a leadership capacity for complex and strategically important developmental programs including those that are Phase III and IV programs.
•The oversight of signal detection and risk management activities for designated global products, ensuring patient safety is adequately addressed in the company's sponsored studies.
•Developing documents and negotiating with Regulatory authorities on safety matters involving the company's compounds.
•Performing activities required to serve as Global PV physician and/or Regional PV Physician.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
•Qualified physician (medical degree).
•US - Active US license preferred.
•EU - registered to practice in the EU.
•Minimum of 4 years experience in pharmacovigilance, clinical research or clinical development, including a minimum of 2 years in global pharmacovigilance.
•1-2 years clinical experience with patients following post-graduate training with significant knowledge of general medicine.
•Knowledge of principles of epidemiology and statistics.
SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
•Critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to make high level decisions.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills including theability to present to large internal/external groups.
•Good level of computer literacy with Microsoft applications.
