Our client, a fast growing company is a leader in the emerging technology and provides chronic disease management systems for remote patients. They have recently signed a global commercial afreement with a global pharmaceutical company.
They are now recruiting for a new division which has been created to offer solutions to pharmaceutical customers for late stage clinical trials. This is a start up opportunity within a young company with strong potential. You will have at least 6 years management experiece within the clinical industry. You will be excited by the prospect of being instrumental in setting up and running this business in addition to profiting from the growth in the business through equity participation.
SUMMARY OF ROLE:
The Clinical Director (CD) is responsible for delivering the contracted clinical trial programme. In this capacity the CD will be expected to liaise with commissioning customers, advise on trial design, develop resource plans, ensure that the programme is adequately resourced and that the study outcome is delivered on time
and budget.
The CD will be the primary point of senior contact between the company and our commercial partners.
Line Manager is the Chief Executive Officer but it is expected that as the organisation
grows additional management layers will be recruited.
It is expected that the CD will be able to assume more senior posts within 12 -18 months.
The CD will have two initial direct reports a Clinical Project Manager and a Data
Manager. Indirect reporting will include a Quality Manager, Recruitment Team Manager
and Nurse Call Centre Manager.
As a small company (total employees are 35) the candidate will be asked to participate in
additional projects to assist in the company’s development.
The Clinical Director will be a key member of the UK Management team including the
CEO, Sales and Marketing Director, Operations Director, Technical Director and Finance
Director.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
* In partnership with the CEO to develop a Clinical Division Business Plan matching
business opportunities with resource plans ensuring that objectives can be achieved.
* To serve as a senior level expert liaison with clients, as appropriate
* Provide financial oversight to projects to ensure appropriate profitability
* Initiate new business opportunities through existing relationships.
* Monitor the quality framework within projects and compliance to regulations.
* Act as expert consultant in the development of proposals,
* Participate in bid and pre-selling meetings as required
* Proactively identify and implement process improvement initiatives as appropriate.
* Ensure all necessary training is provided to his/her staff to improve their job
performance and knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Ideally, a minimum of 10 years experience in clinical research, at least 6 of which are at
management level.
* Medical Qualifications are an advantage
* Knowledge of EDC / ePRO technology an advantage.
* Significant leadership and managerial skills.
* A desire to be responsible for growing your own business.
* Current full driving licence essential.
* Ability and willingness to travel approx. 20% of the time (international and domestic)
