Requirements
Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager and guidance from the Laboratory Coordinator,the Research Lab Technician performs laboratory procedures per assigned protocols. Assists the Laboratory Coordinator in maintaining a smooth and orderly workflow of procedures in the Kinetics Lab.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
.Collect and harvest plasma, serum, and all other required laboratory specimens according to protocol specifications
.Monitor the collection of urine and/or fecal samples from subjects participating in studies
.Complete all required study documentation
.Assure that all procedure and processing areas are maintained in a neat, clean, and organized manner and performs other non-technical duties as assigned
.Mentor new Research Lab Techs
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
.High school diploma or equivalent
.One - two years work experience
.Two years college in a science field (Preferred)
-One year laboratory experience (Preferred)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
.Ability to work effectively in a time-dependent environment
.Ability to interact with subjects and other employees in a professional manner
.Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
.Ability to receive and understand instructions in all laboratory procedures
.Ability to work a varying schedule with open availability
.Must be willing to work with lab specimens such as urine, fecal, and blood
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
.Occasional exposure to infectious diseases
.Daily exposure to bio-hazardous material
.Occasionally works long hours
.Frequently works evening, night, and weekend hours
.Lifts, carries, push, pulls objects weighing 5-15 pounds on a daily basis
.Must stand/walk for long periods of time on a daily basis
