Requirements
This position is in our Early PreClinical Development (EPD) department in our Bioanalytical Laboratory. The EPD LCMS Scientist/Senior Scientist is responsible for performing rapid method development and analysis for potential pharmaceuticals in a variety of biological fluid and/or tissue samples. They independently operate and maintain assigned LCMSMS system(s) to ensure they are run efficiently, company revenue targets are met, and clients are satisfied with the quality and timeliness of work performed by the EPD group.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
.B.S. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field with 3 years pharmaceutical and/or biotech laboratory experience
.Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
.Full knowledge and understanding of separation science and general chemistry - knowledge of advanced chromatography techniques is a plus
.Ability to independently operate and maintain an LCMSMS system
.Proficient in operation and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation and data acquisition systems
.Understands operation, maintenance, and calibration of an auto-injector and pump
.Ability to identify suitability of an analytical column
.Ability to differentiate between mass spectral resolution and chromatographic resolution
.Working knowledge of the systems in use in the PPD CSD Bioanalytical laboratory is a plus
.Proven analytical problem solving skills
.Ability to organize, set up, and complete bioanalytical projects in extremely short timeframes to meet clients needs
.Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities for rapid and successful project completion
.Client focused with effective communication and strong interpersonal skills
.Ability to successfully cooperate/collaborate within the work unit to achieve team goals

.Must pay constant attention to detail-visual, mental

.Able to multi-task daily
.Daily exposure to extreme cold
.Long, varied hours required occasionally

.Rotating shifts required on rare occasions
.Exposure to fluctuating changes in temperature on rare occasions
.Standing, walking, and twisting of upper body/neck required constantly
.Crouching/stooping required daily
.Lifting/carrying objects of 5-15 lbs. required daily
.Kneeling and pushing/pulling of items required frequently
.Lifting/carrying objects of 26-50+ lbs. required on rare occasions
